August 19 2025 11:18:15     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

The domestic phenol market was generally stronger. According to data monitored by SunSirs, the domestic phenol market price in East China rose from 6,603 RMB/ton on August 11 to 6,700 RMB/ton on August 18, an increase of 100 RMB/ton, or 1.46%. Nationwide, all major markets saw similar increases.

Analysis review

The domestic phenol market performed relatively strongly last week, with Sinopec's East China unit raising its listed price by 100 RMB/ton to 6,750 RMB/ton. On the cost side, prices for raw material benzene also showed strength, supported by cost factors and insufficient domestic trade cargo replenishment. Since Tuesday, the market has seen a concentrated price increase, leading to a slowdown in trading.

On the demand side, terminal factories were slowing purchasing, with slight discounts on high-end products. Regarding plants, Shanghai Xisa continued to operate at low capacity.

As of August 18th, phenol quotations in major markets nationwide were as follows:

Future outlook:

SunSirs predicts that both supply and demand will increase, and pay attention to the arrival of domestic trade ships to replenish the market. The supply of phenol market is expected to increase slightly this week. From the demand side, the downstream demand for bisphenol A has increased significantly, and other demands have not fluctuated much. From the cost side, the market is running weakly and the cost support is insufficient. The phenol market is expected to be stronger.
