SunSirs: The Propylene Oxide Market Fluctuated Narrowly in January

January 31 2024 15:37:51     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 30th, the average price of propylene oxide for enterprises was 9,225.00 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.14% compared to the price on January 1st.

Analysis review

The propylene oxide market fluctuated narrowly in January. In the first half of the month, the price of raw material propylene first fell and then rose, with average cost support. At the beginning of the month, there was an increase in downstream new orders, and the market atmosphere improved. Factory shipments were good, and some companies increased their prices. As downstream new orders for polyether became weaker, the volume of propylene oxide decreased, and the market operated under pressure, resulting in a slight decline in prices. In the second half of the month, cost support had increased, with a slight increase in downstream new orders. Factory shipments were still acceptable, and supply side inventory pressure was not high. Some companies had raised prices. As the end of the month approaching, downstream wait-and-see attitudes had become increasingly strong, and factory shipments were weaker, resulting in a weak market atmosphere.

Upstream propylene: According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the reference price of propylene on January 29th was 6,955.75 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.27% compared to January 1st (6,868.25 RMB/ton).

Market outlook

The propylene oxide analyst from SunSirs believes that the cost support was still acceptable, but downstream procurement mentality was cautious, and the market atmosphere was average. It is expected that the propylene oxide market may operate in a wait-and-see manner in the short term, and more attention needs to be paid to market news guidance.
