SunSirs: Cost Supported, DOP Prices Consolidated at High Levels after Holiday,

The plasticizer DOP prices consolidated at high levels this week

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 5th, the price of DOP was 12,058.33 RMB/ton, which decreased first and then increased compared to the price of 12,091.67 RMB/ton on December 29th, with a decrease of 0.28%. The cost support for plasticizer DOP still existed, and the price of DOP had stabilized at a high level after the holiday.

After the holiday, the operating rate of DOP enterprises decreased from 60% before the holiday to less than 50% after the holiday. The operating rate of plasticizer enterprises decreased, the supply of DOP decreased, and the demand for raw materials such as 2-EH and PA decreased.

The price of 2-EH first fell and then rose

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 5th, the price of 2-EH was 12,962.50 RMB/ton, which was a decrease and then an increase of 0.10% compared to the price of 2-EH on December 29th, which was 12,950 RMB/ton. This week, the operating rate of downstream plasticizers had fallen, and large plasticizer manufacturers purchased mainly on demand. The transaction volume of 2-EH was poor, and the high price support for 2-EH was insufficient. After the holiday, the main manufacturers of 2-EH were offering discounts for sales, but the price of 2-EH had fallen. As DOP manufacturers started operating lower, DOP prices had risen, and the support for the rise of 2-EH had increased.

The price of PA continued to rise

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of January 5th, the quotation for PA was 7,687.50 RMB/ton, a fluctuating increase of 0.33% compared to the quotation of 7,662.50 RMB/ton on December 29th. After the holiday, PA continued to rise, coupled with an increase in the price of OX, the PA market rebounded, and the cost of DOP increased.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ plasticizer product data analysts believe that the raw material 2-EH first fell and then rose, and the PA market continued to rise. The cost support for plasticizer DOP still existed, coupled with the decrease in operating load of plasticizer factories this week, the support for plasticizer price increased. In the future, cost support still exists, supply decreases and demand is weak, and DOP prices are mainly consolidating at high levels.
