SunSirs: The White Cardboard is Stable and the White Board is Down in China, or may Continue to be under Pressure in Short term

December 19 2023 10:18:17     SunSirs (Selena)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of white cardboard has remained stable last week, while the price of gray background white cardboard has slightly decreased. On December 15th, the average market price of 230g-400g white cardboard was 5,240 RMB/ton, which remained stable compared to the average market price of 5,240 RMB/ton on December 10th. On December 15th, the average market price of 250g gray background white board paper was 4,132.33 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the average market price of 4,165.67 RMB/ton on December 10th.

By observing market changes, it can be seen that the price of white cardboard has remained stable this week. Due to little improvement in terminal demand and a lack of confidence in the future market, there is a possibility of a slight decline in the market's trading focus under the influence of a bearish mentality. In addition, the price of raw wood pulp is still at a high level, and there is still cost pressure on white cardboard. However, with the limited inventory of large-scale paper mills, prices continue to remain stable in the market.

The price of gray background white board paper has slightly decreased, and the overall increase in new orders in the current market is limited, causing pressure on paper mill shipments and a slight increase in inventory. Some paper mills have shut down for maintenance to alleviate inventory pressure. Due to the poor demand in the downstream market and the low stocking intention of distributors, multi-dimensional supply and demand replenishment is the main focus, further highlighting the supply-demand contradiction pattern in the market. In the context of weak overall market driving, the price of gray background white board paper has decreased.

According to paper analysts from SunSirs, the downstream demand for white cardboard and gray background white board is currently weak, with dealers mainly reducing inventory and low stocking intentions. The market transaction center has shifted downwards, and most businesses lack confidence in the future. It is expected that the prices of white cardboard and gray background white board will continue to be under pressure in the short term.
