The price of plasticizer DOP surged by nearly a thousand RMB in two days

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of December 5th, the price of DOP was 12,050 RMB/ton, an increase of 600 RMB/ton or 5.24% compared to the price of 11,450 RMB/ton on December 1st. Some manufacturers raised their prices by 800-900 RMB/ton, resulting in an increase in raw material prices, an increase in the cost of plasticizer DOP, and a significant increase in DOP prices.

2-EH prices continued to steadily rise

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of 2-EH had been continuously rising since mid November. As of December 5th, the quoted price of 2-EH was 11,740 RMB/ton, an increase of 5.20% compared to the quoted price of 11,160 RMB/ton on November 11th. In November, the operating rate of downstream plasticizers increased, and large plasticizer factories actively purchased. The demand for rigid 2-EH increased, and 2-EH products showed a fluctuating upward trend. In the past three months, the utilization rate of 2-EH production capacity had gradually recovered, and the supply of 2-EH had increased. With the continuous rise of 2-EH prices, the purchasing enthusiasm of downstream plasticizer enterprises had declined under price pressure, and the support for the rise of 2-EH in the future had weakened.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ plasticizer product data analysts believe that the production of plasticizer DOP was high, DOP supply was sufficient, and with the rise of DOP prices, DOP profits increased, and downstream real order bargaining space increased. The rise in the price of raw material 2-EH supported a significant increase in DOP prices. In the future, there is insufficient support for the price increase of 2-EH, the cost of raw materials has stabilized, and downstream procurement has a strong willingness to lower prices. It is expected that the DOP price will fall from a high level in the future.
