SunSirs: The Coal Market Price in Hunan Province Slightly Increased in the Fourth Week of October

November 13 2023 13:53:45

According to the monitoring data of the circulation market of production materials in the province by the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, in the 44th week of 2023 (October 23-29), the average sales price of coal in Hunan Province was 1117.08 yuan/ton, an increase of 0.4%, and a year-on-year decrease of 12.6%. From a variety perspective, the average selling price of anthracite is 1476.25 yuan/ton, a decrease of 0.1% and a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%; The average selling price of bituminous coal is 937.5 yuan/ton, an increase of 0.8%, and a year-on-year decrease of 13.3%.

This week, the coal market prices in the whole province have slightly increased, and market procurement has been stable. Market demand is mainly for long-term coal and hard demand, and inventory pressure is not significant. The main reasons for the rise in coal prices are as follows: firstly, the continuous rise in coal prices in the early stage has led to an increase in market wait-and-see sentiment, and some downstream companies have postponed procurement plans. Last week, the shift in coal prices from rising to falling stimulated some just in need of centralized procurement; Secondly, overseas coal and natural gas prices are mainly rising, leading to an increase in the cost of imported coal and providing some support for domestic coal prices.

Looking ahead to the future market, from the demand side, the long-term coal demand for power plants remains stable, while the demand for non electric coal remains resilient. It is unlikely that there will be a significant increase in coal demand in the short term. In the later stage, with the expansion of coal winter storage from north to south, the overall demand for coal will remain high and firm under the trend of economic stabilization and improvement; From the supply side, Hunan's coal production from January to September 2023 was 5.974 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%, ranking 18th in the country and at a relatively low level. Affected by a slight increase in the resumption of normal production and supply after the completion of coal mine maintenance, it is expected that the coal market prices in the province will fluctuate slightly next week.
