SunSirs: The Market of Cyclohexanone Rose in a Narrow Range

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, from July 6 to 13, the average price of cyclohexanone in the domestic market rose from 8,071 RMB/ton to 8,150 RMB/ton, up 0.97% in the week, down 1.41% month on month and down 25.64% year on year. The market price of raw material pure benzene rose, the cost support was strong, the market atmosphere improved, downstream chemical fibers and solvents were replenished on demand, and the market price of cyclohexanone rose in a narrow range.

Analysis review

On the cost side, the raw material pure benzene saw a significant increase in the domestic market. The international crude oil price continued to rise, and some downstream ethylbenzene and CPL devices were restarted, increasing the demand for pure benzene. On July 13th, the benchmark price of pure benzene for SunSirs was 6,397.17 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.45% compared to the beginning of this month (6,183.83 RMB/ton). The cost of cyclohexanone was favorable in the short term.

On the supply side, the average weekly starting load of cyclohexanone this week was 65.60%, up 1.43% from last week, and the weekly output was 91,200 tons, up 2,000 tons from last week. The main production enterprises including Shijiazhuang Coking, Shandong Hongda, Jining Zhongyin, and Shandong Haili’s equipments were under maintenance. The supply of cyclohexanone was slightly positive in the short term.

Demand side, CPL: CPL market was weak. The downstream CPL supply tended to be loose, and the enthusiasm for chemical fiber procurement might be reduced. On July 13, the benchmark price of CPL of SunSirs was 12,087.50 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.08% compared with 12,097.50 RMB/ton at the beginning of this month. The demand side of cyclohexanone was negatively affected.

Market outlook

Pure benzene ran at a high level, with good cost support. The downstream followed up on demand. Cyclohexanone analysts from SunSirs predict that in the short term, the domestic cyclohexanone market would be dominated by consolidation.
