SunSirs: The Amount of Livestock on Hand of Laying Hens Was Low, Egg Prices Rose

March 31 2023 14:41:02     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the egg price at the beginning of this month was 9.16 RMB/kg, and the egg price at the end of this month was 9.96 RMB/kg, with a price increase of 5.06%, and a price increase of 13.31% compared to the same period last year.

Analysis review

Supply side: As of the 30th, the stock level of laying hens was low, and the supply of eggs was low, supporting egg prices. Demand side: In the low consumption season, although the Qingming Festival is approaching, this year's Qingming Festival holiday is not long, and the demand boost may be less than expected. With the increase of newly opened laying hens and the continued existence of delayed elimination of chickens, the production and inventory will continue to increase in the near future, and the subsequent egg supply capacity will gradually improve. The demand side will also be in a continuous recovery, but attention needs to be paid to the recovery efforts.

Although the price of eggs in foreign countries had skyrocketed due to the impact of avian influenza outbreaks and rising breeding costs, there were fewer outbreaks of avian influenza in China, and the overall supply of eggs was low. In addition, the overall demand is still in the off-season, and the sales volume in the sales area is not large. Due to the arrival of the Qingming Festival in the later stage, the downstream replenishment volume may have a slight increase.

Market outlook

The catering industry is gradually recovering, and the downstream replenishment volume may have a slight increase. Egg prices are expected to improve in the future. It is expected that in the short term, the trend of egg prices may be mainly volatile and stronger.
