SunSirs: ICSG: World Mine Copper Production in January 2023 up 4.5% Year-on-year
March 24 2023 10:28:28     Foreign media news on March 23: The monthly data released by the International Copper Study Group (ICSG) shows that in January 2023, the world's mine copper production increased by 4.5% year-on-year, of which the output of copper concentrate increased by about 3.5% year-on-year, and the hydrometallurgy electrolytic copper Production increased by 9% year-on-year.
Global mined copper production rose by about 4.5% in January 2023, partly due to a low base in January 2022, when mined copper production was still adversely affected by the outbreak, which constrained production in some countries.
In Chile, the world's top copper producer, mined copper output rose 3% in January from a year earlier, but was down 1.5% from the average monthly output in 2022. Chile's copper concentrate production rose 0.8% in January, while hydrometallurgical copper cathode production rose 8%.
In Peru, the world's second-largest copper producer, actions by local communities have affected production at major mines, leading to a 0.3% drop in the country's output in January. Copper concentrate output fell by 1.6%, as the affected mines mainly produced copper concentrate.
Production in the Democratic Republic of Congo rose about 15% in January as new or expanded capacity was added at the new Kamoa copper mine and other copper mines. Production in China increased by 1%, while production in the United States fell by 5%.
