As of February 17, 2023, the price of polyamide filament DTY (premium products; 70D/24F) in Jiangsu was 18,100 RMB/ton, down 140 RMB/ton from last week, with a weekly decline of 0.77%; Polyamide POY (premium product; 86D/24F) was at quoted 15,850 RMB/ton, down 50 RMB/ton from last week; The price of polyamide FDY (premium product: 40D/12F) was 18,875 RMB/ton, down 100 RMB/ton from last week.

Analysis review

This week (February 13-17, 2023), the spot price of CPL, the upstream raw material, continued to decline in a weak way, the demand side performance remained weak, the confidence in the market weakened, and the price of polyamide filament fell. The starting load of polyamide filament increased and the market supply increased significantly. The overall market trading was still relatively cold, wait-and-see, rigid procurement, foreign trade orders had not been started, and the expectation of orders this spring and summer was weak.

Cost side: CPL supply was relatively loose, confidence in the market was weakening, and the price continued to loosen. The market price of raw CPL continued to decline this week. According to the price monitoring of SunSirs, the average market price of domestic liquid CPL was 12,266 RMB/ton as of February 17, down 236 RMB/ton from last week. It is expected that CPL market will still be dominated by small consolidation in the later stage.

In terms of demand: the operating rate of downstream weaving manufacturers increased during the week, and the market transaction was gradually recovering, but the overall market had not changed significantly. Only a small number of new orders had been issued, and most orders were still in the inquiry stage. It is expected that the release time of new orders in spring and summer will be near the end of the month or the beginning of the next month.

Market outlook

Downstream new orders had not been issued in a centralized manner, and the load of polyamide filament factory had increased, the supply and demand side was difficult to be favorable.
