In 2025, facing multiple pressures such as US tariff adjustments, insufficient overseas demand, and exchange rate fluctuations, China's textile and apparel foreign trade industry persevered with technological innovation, enhanced brand design capabilities, explored diversified markets, and developed new drivers for foreign trade. The industry's total export value exceeded US$290 billion, demonstrating the solid foundation and strong resilience of China's textile and apparel supply chain. According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, in dollar terms, China's cumulative textile and apparel exports from January to December 2025 showed relatively stable performance, with a total export value of US$293.77 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4% compared to 2024, which was better than expected.
Textile and apparel exports in RMB: From January to December 2025, cumulative textile and apparel exports totaled 2,102.67 billion RMB, a decrease of 1.9% compared to the same period last year (hereinafter the same). Of this, textile exports amounted to 1,020.47 billion yuan, an increase of 1%, while apparel exports reached 1,082.2 billion RMB, a decrease of 4.4%. In December, textile and apparel exports totaled 184.24 billion RMB, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8% and a month-on-month increase of 8.7%. Textile exports amounted to 89.17 billion RMB, a decrease of 6.7% year-on-year and an increase of 2.3% month-on-month, while apparel exports reached 95.07 billion RMB, a decrease of 12.5% year-on-year and an increase of 15.5% month-on-month.
Textile and apparel exports in US dollars: From January to December 2025, cumulative textile and apparel exports totaled US$293.77 billion, a decrease of 2.4%. Of this, textile exports amounted to US$142.58 billion, an increase of 0.5%, and apparel exports amounted to US$151.18 billion, a decrease of 5%. In December, textile and apparel exports reached US$25.99 billion, a decrease of 7.4% year-on-year and an increase of 8.9% month-on-month. Textile exports were US$12.58 billion, a decrease of 4.2% year-on-year and an increase of 2.5% month-on-month, while apparel exports were US$13.41 billion, a decrease of 10.2% year-on-year and an increase of 15.7% month-on-month.
