Data from the European Commission indicates that EU imports of oilseeds and vegetable oils have generally trailed last year's levels during the 2026/27 season. As of September 6, soybean imports by the EU-27 for the 2026/27 season (which began on July 1) totaled approximately 2.178 million tonnes, a year-on-year decline of 17%.
As a major global market for soybean imports, the EU's 17% year-on-year drop in imports through September 6 reflects weak regional demand, exerting a generally bearish influence on both spot and futures prices for soybeans.
