Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK, the Financial Authority) Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi said in Jakarta on September 3 that the authority will release two supporting regulations for the Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange (BMKS) no later than September 17, namely the exchange's transition arrangement rules and special supervision rules for the exchange.
This legislation stems from Law No. 4 of 2026, which amends the Law on Financial Industry Development and Strengthening and formally grants the Indonesian Financial Authority the regulatory authority over the Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange. According to the legislative timeline, the mineral strategic exchange will officially launch operations on January 1, 2027, with a relatively tight preparation window.
The exchange plans to include Indonesia's advantageous strategic minerals and commodities such as nickel, coal, palm oil, bauxite and tin into the trading system, aiming to establish local commodity pricing benchmarks. Currently, the complete list of included commodities and trading rules will be disclosed after the official regulations are released. The review process with the parliament is still required before the new regulations are issued.
