Guangdong Henghe Yongsheng Group Co., Ltd. issued a notice stating that, due to the international geopolitical situation and rising crude oil prices, the costs of key upstream raw materials for water-based acrylic emulsions (such as styrene, butyl acrylate, and methyl esters) have continued to climb sharply and remain at high levels. As the cost pressure can no longer be fully absorbed internally, and to ensure product quality and stable supply, the company is raising the selling prices of its entire product series by 10% to 15%, effective September 1.

Shanghai Baolijia Chemical Co., Ltd. issued a notice stating that, to uphold product quality and ensure stable supply and long-term service capabilities, the company has decided—after careful deliberation—to raise the prices of its entire series of water-based acrylic emulsion products by 10% over current quotes, effective immediately.

The Building Materials Business Unit of Bardefu Group Co., Ltd. issued a notice stating that, to ensure consistent product quality and reliable supply, the company has decided—after careful deliberation—to implement a 10% price increase on its products relative to current quotes, effective immediately.

The Surface Materials Business Unit of Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. issued a notice stating that, due to continued volatility in the international environment and rising crude oil prices, the costs of raw materials such as BA, MMA, and EHA have continued to rise and are expected to remain high in the short term. This has caused a sharp increase in the production costs of the company's water-based products, far exceeding its capacity to absorb the expense.

Consequently, the following price adjustment for water-based acrylic emulsions is being implemented: prices will increase by 10%, effective immediately.

Nylon and Polyamide Chain

BASF has raised prices for caprolactam, polyamide 6, and polyamide 6/66 copolymers in North America by $0.08 per pound (approximately $176 per metric ton). This marks the third time this year that BASF has raised nylon prices. The company stated that the global situation continues to cause volatility in the nylon value chain and that further price adjustments may occur in the future. Previously, AdvanSix announced a price increase of $0.12 per pound for similar products, effective August 3.

Coatings and Resins

Sherwin-Williams announced an 8% price increase across all its paint stores. Management stated that the price hike was postponed until after the peak coating season to minimize the impact on customers.

Allnex raised prices for indoor, standard weather-resistant, and ultra-weather-resistant powder coating resins by approximately $74 per tonne.

Wanhua Chemical raised acrylic acid prices in Northeast, North, and East China by approximately $29 per tonne to $1,209 per tonne. Meanwhile, prices for butyl acrylate in several regions were increased by about $59 per tonne to $1,372 per tonne.

Electronic Materials

Nan Ya Plastics announced a 20% to 25% price increase for copper-clad laminates (CCL) and prepregs (PP), effective September 1. The company cited significant cost increases for upstream raw materials—including copper foil, glass fiber cloth, and core resins—noting a particularly severe shortage of glass fiber cloth. Nan Ya subsequently clarified that the price adjustments would be implemented gradually through individual negotiations with customers rather than via a blanket, one-time increase.

Basic Chemicals

Wanhua Chemical raised domestic ex-factory prices across several regions. In Shandong, the price of butadiene rose by approximately $27 per tonne, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) by $7 per tonne, and tert-butanol by $15 per tonne. Styrene prices in North and East China increased by about $29 per tonne. Prices for n-butanol rose by approximately $15 per tonne across multiple regions. Prices for several grades of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in Shandong, East China, and South China increased by $7 to $15 per tonne.

BASF raised prices for neopentyl glycol (NPG), with increases of approximately $290 per tonne in Europe and $221 per tonne in North America. The price of 1,6-hexanediol in Europe rose by approximately $348 per tonne.

The current wave of price increases stems from tightening global supplies of energy and raw materials. Since March 2026, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have restricted approximately 20% of global crude oil trade and the transport of significant volumes of chemical products. A sharp rise in oil prices, coupled with tightening supplies of benzene, ethylene, and other raw materials, has driven up costs and subsequently pushed up prices across the entire chemical value chain.
