1. [White Sugar] On August 31, sugar producers and distributors in Guangzhou quoted prices between 5,150 and 5,210 RMB/ton, a decrease of 10 RMB/ton compared to the previous Friday. By the end of July, cumulative sugar sales in Guangxi totaled 5.484 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 12,100 tons.
2. [Soybean Oil] The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule extending the deadline for refineries to meet Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) blending requirements for the 2025 compliance year from September 1, 2026, to October 1, 2026. This move means refineries are under less immediate pressure to fulfill biofuel blending obligations, thereby curbing upward momentum in soybean oil prices.
3. [Grains] European Commission grain trade data shows that as of August 23, grain imports by the EU-27 for the 2026/27 marketing year (beginning July 1) totaled 3,371,772 tons, a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2025/26. Grain exports totaled 4,122,456 tons, a 38% decrease year-on-year.
4. [Grains] Russia's grain harvest progress in 2026 is significantly faster than last year. As of August 26, 27.9 million hectares of grain (including legumes) had been harvested nationwide—representing over 65% of the projected area—with a cumulative threshed volume of 100.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%.
5. [Grains] Kazakhsta's grain harvest progress is significantly ahead of the same period last year. Data from the Ministry of Agriculture shows that as of August 27, the harvested area for grains and legumes reached 5.4 million hectares, accounting for 34.4% of the projected harvest area; by contrast, only 2.7 million hectares (16.7%) had been harvested during the same period last year.
6. [Palm Oil] Indonesia has raised the reference price for crude palm oil for September to $1,007.51 per tonne.
