Price trends
Taking rutile-grade titanium dioxide produced via the sulfate process—which sees significant sales volume in the domestic market—as an example, data monitored by SunSirs indicates a decline in domestic market prices during August: the average price fell from 15,460 RMB/ton on August 1 to 14,060 RMB/ton on August 27, a decrease of 9.06%.
Market Analysis
Domestic titanium dioxide prices declined in August. Prices for upstream raw materials—titanium concentrate and sulfuric acid—remained weak. Downstream demand showed no significant improvement, and end-users maintained a wait-and-see attitude regarding procurement. Inventory levels varied among manufacturers; while some plants held low stocks and Taihai issued a notice announcing price hikes, overall end-user acceptance remained limited. The market faced significant oversupply pressure, causing prices to remain weak and stable. Currently, domestic quotes for rutile-grade titanium dioxide (produced via the sulfate process) mostly range from 13,300 to 15,000 RMB/ton, while anatase-grade prices hover around 12,600 to 13,000 RMB/ton. Market sentiment remains cautious; trading is flexible, with actual transaction prices determined on a case-by-case basis.
