According to a recent report by LMC Automotive, the seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of global light vehicle sales in July 2026 showed slight improvement over June, reaching an annualized pace of over 90 million units; however, the figure remained significantly below the level seen during the same period last year. Cumulative sales for the January–July period totaled 50 million units, a year-over-year decline of nearly 4%. Global light vehicle sales for the month fell 3.3% year-over-year to 7.22 million units.
Nitrile rubber is widely used to manufacture automotive components such as seals and shock-absorbing parts; styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is a core raw material for tire production; polybutadiene rubber (BR) is frequently used for tire treads; and natural rubber is the most critical raw material for tires. With global light vehicle sales dropping 3.3% year-over-year in July and cumulative sales for the first seven months falling nearly 4%, downstream demand is expected to be weak, exerting moderate downward pressure on nitrile rubber prices.
