According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, domestic prices of sodium metabisulfite rose last week; the average price of industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite was 3,993 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 4,000 RMB/ton at the weekend, marking an increase of 0.17%.

Market analysis

Last week, the domestic market price for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite (96.5% purity) rose. While the price of soda ash—an upstream raw material—remained stable, the price of sulfur fell by 2.81%; however, earlier destocking had resulted in tight spot market supplies, and holders showed a strong determination to maintain price levels.

Market outlook

Supplies of sodium metabisulfite are tight; domestic market prices are expected to show a trend of fluctuation with an upward bias in the short term.
