SunSirs: EU Grain Production Forecast to Decline Year-on-Year for 2026/27
August 07 2026 15:28:45SunSirs(Selena)

A report by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) indicates that EU grain production for the 2026/27 season is projected to fall below the previous year's levels due to adverse weather; specifically, France, Hungary, Poland, and Germany are expected to see significant declines in crop yields caused by drought.

As a major global corn-producing region, the EU faces anticipated sharp drops in corn yields in key producers like France and Germany due to drought. The expected tightening of corn supplies for the 2026/27 season will support stronger spot prices, while futures markets are also likely to trend upward, bolstered by expectations of supply contraction.

The EU is also a key global wheat exporter; drought conditions have led to forecasts of lower wheat yields in major producing nations. The anticipated reduction in wheat supplies for 2026/27 favors spot prices and provides upward support for futures prices.
