As of July 31, Yunnan Province had recorded cumulative sugar sales of 2.0317 million tonnes, with a production-to-sales ratio of 69.15%—a year-on-year decline of 11.53%. Sales for the month of July alone totaled 199,500 tonnes, while industrial inventories stood at 906,500 tonnes.
Yunnan is a key domestic white sugar production region. The newly released data reveals a significant year-on-year drop of 11.53 percentage points in the production-to-sales ratio by the end of July. With monthly sales of only 199,500 tonnes—falling short of demand expectations—and industrial inventories reaching 906,500 tonnes, supply pressure in the spot market has intensified, exerting moderate downward pressure on white sugar prices. Meanwhile, near-month futures contracts face significant short-term resistance to upward movement, weighed down by weak demand and high inventory levels.
