Price trends
According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the aniline market continued its upward trend last week. The market price stood at 11,125 RMB/ton on July 20 and rose to 11,525 RMB/ton, marking a weekly increase of 3.6% and a rise of 59.08% compared to the same period last year.
Analysis and Commentary
Aniline supplies remained tight throughout the week, with producer inventories kept at manageable levels. Prices rose as the cost of the raw material—benzene—was boosted by higher crude oil prices. Driven by increased production costs and strong market sales, aniline prices were raised on multiple occasions. As of this Friday, mainstream domestic quotes for aniline stood at 11,500-11,600 RMB/ton.
Cost side: Although the standoff between the US and Iran persisted throughout the week without further escalation, oil prices fluctuated at high levels, providing support for benzene. Port inventories of benzene continued to decline and remained low in absolute terms; meanwhile, operating rates in the industry stayed at yearly lows, maintaining a tight supply-demand balance. These cost and supply-demand factors drove up the price of benzene.
Market Outlook
Aniline prices have currently risen to high levels, with downstream buyers purchasing on an as-needed basis. Despite high costs, aniline sales remain steady, and prices are expected to stay elevated in the short term; close attention should be paid to changes in costs and demand.
