In June 2026, imports of white paperboard (primarily white paperboard/white card stock, collectively classified by Customs as "white paperboard") totaled 46,100 tonnes. This represents a month-on-month decline of 1.91%—continuing a trend of low-level contraction—and a year-on-year drop of 12.3%, reflecting a steady annual decline in import volumes. The average import price stood at $845 per tonne, with high-end specialty white paperboard accounting for the majority of the volume.
The imported material consisted primarily of white paperboard (white card stock). With import volumes falling both year-on-year (-12.3%) and month-on-month (-1.91%), the scale of imports remained low and contracted further. Reduced inflows of overseas stock alleviated supply-side pressure on the domestic market; this marginal improvement in the supply-demand balance provided positive support for spot prices.
As Customs classifies white-lined chipboard (often referred to as "white board paper") under the same "white paperboard" category, the decline in total white paperboard imports in June—shrinking both month-on-month and year-on-year—has provided a degree of positive support for domestic spot prices of white-lined chipboard.
