On July 16, sugar producers and distributors in Guangzhou quoted prices at 5,180–5,250 RMB/tonne, down 30 RMB/tonne from the previous day. As of the end of June, industrial inventories in Guangxi stood at 2.6694 million tonnes, an increase of 1.345 million tonnes year-on-year.
Regarding the spot market, white sugar quotes in Guangzhou on July 16 ranged from 5,180 to 5,250 RMB/tonne—a drop of 30 RMB/tonne from the prior trading day—amid sluggish market trading. Industrial inventories in the major producing region of Guangxi reached 2.6694 million tonnes by the end of June, marking a substantial year-on-year rise of 1.345 million tonnes; this significant increase in domestic supply pressure has weighed on spot prices. In the futures market, the benchmark white sugar contract has recently trended weakly due to expectations of ample supply, and the combination of falling spot prices and high inventory levels has further exerted downward pressure on futures prices.
