According to the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report released by the USDA, the United States is projected to import as much as 1.152 million metric tons of Mexican sugar in the 2026–2027 marketing year—a 512% increase compared to 2025–2026.

This highlights a significant widening of the US sugar supply gap, bolstering expectations for international sugar demand and providing upward support for domestic white sugar spot prices.
