Data released by Brazil's foreign trade authorities on July 3 indicates a simultaneous drop in both volume and price for Brazilian sugar exports in June. Regarding export volume, Brazil exported 3.127 million tonnes of sugar in June, a 7.16% decrease from the 3.368 million tonnes recorded in the same period of 2025. Cumulative exports for the January–June period totaled 12.295 million tonnes, down 4.39% from the 12.86 million tonnes exported during the same period in 2025.
As a key global sugar exporter, Brazil's year-on-year export declines—7.16% for June and 4.39% cumulatively for the first half of the year—have heightened expectations of tighter global sugar supplies, providing bullish support for domestic white sugar spot prices. In the futures market, the main white sugar contract (2609) on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange closed at 5,327 RMB/tonne on July 6, 2026, up 25 RMB/tonne from the previous trading day. Trading volume reached 407,500 lots, and open interest increased by 1,359 lots; with strong bullish sentiment in the market, futures prices are expected to maintain a firm trend.
