Price Trend
Data monitored by SunSirs indicates that as of June 29, the average domestic price for premium-grade industrial cyclohexane stood at 7,416 RMB/ton. Currently, the market is characterized by narrow-range fluctuations, with weak demand curbing upward movement.
Market Analysis
On the supply side, domestic operating rates for integrated refining-chemical units—including those at Luxi and Haili—remain stable at 62%-66%, with no major maintenance shutdowns scheduled. Spot market liquidity is ample, and associated caprolactam units are operating steadily, leading to an increase in merchant cyclohexane supplies. Overall market supply is loose; traders hold high inventory levels accumulated earlier and are keen to move stock, primarily by offering price concessions to facilitate sales.
On the demand side, essential procurement for key downstream sectors—such as cyclohexanone, adipic acid, and nylon chips—remains steady but limited to immediate needs, with no significant restocking taking place. Meanwhile, the coatings and pharmaceutical solvent sectors are in their off-season; operating rates are low, and purchasing has slowed. Downstream buyers are resistant to high-priced raw materials; a "wait-and-see" attitude has intensified following price drops, and there is minimal "bottom-fishing" or speculative stockpiling.
Market Sentiment: Prices fell early in the week before stabilizing. Traders focused primarily on destocking, while downstream buyers adopted a wait-and-see approach in anticipation of lower prices. Trading activity was sluggish, consisting mostly of small, essential orders rather than large-volume transactions.
Market Outlook:
Cyclohexane analysts at SunSirs believe that, given ample supply, the off-season for demand, and the lack of a significant rebound in costs, cyclohexane prices will likely fluctuate within a narrow, slightly bearish range in the short term, lacking the momentum for a sharp rise; however, if pure benzene prices stop falling and stabilize, spot prices may consolidate sideways within the current 6,000-6,900 RMB/ton range.
