Cumulative sales in Guangxi reached 4.4902 million tonnes by the end of May—a year-on-year decline of 155,100 tonnes—with downstream consumption falling short of expectations, a factor weighing on spot prices. In the futures market, the closing price for the benchmark white sugar contract (2609) on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) was 5,314 RMB/tonne on June 10, down 16 RMB/tonne. Open interest rose by 12,935 lots, signaling a short-term bearish trend and putting pressure on futures prices.
