According to data from the SunSirs’data, the hydrogen peroxide market weakened in early June, with prices steadily declining by nearly 4%. The average market price stood at 676 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and fell to 650 RMB/ton by June 8, a drop of 3.94%.
Factors Driving the Decline in Hydrogen Peroxide Prices
Supply Side: With the conclusion of the May Day maintenance season, operating rates at production plants have risen, resulting in ample market supply and mounting inventory pressure. Product availability in northern regions has increased, placing significant pressure on producers to move stock and leading to a rise in inventory levels.
Demand side: Procurement by key downstream sectors remains sluggish. The two primary downstream industries for hydrogen peroxide—caprolactam and propylene oxide—are facing significant losses, leading to lower operating rates; consequently, enterprises are limiting raw material purchases to essential needs, with no momentum to drive a market upturn.
Market Outlook
In mid-June, the hydrogen peroxide market is expected to see overall minor fluctuations with a higher probability of rising; prices are projected to range between 600 RMB/ton and 800 RMB/ton.
