According to the monitoring of 500 county-level markets and collection points across the country, the prices of piglets, live pigs, eggs, commercial broiler chicks, beef cattle, and sheep increased month-on-month in the fourth week of May (as of May 28). The prices of pork, soybean meal, and broiler chicken compound feed decreased month-on-month, while the prices of chicken, fresh milk, corn, fattening pig compound feed, and layer chicken compound feed remained unchanged month-on-month.

Pig product prices. The national average price of piglets was 23.44 RMB per kilogram, up 0.2% week-on-week and down 39.3% year-on-year. Piglet prices increased in 14 provinces including Hainan, Guangdong, Shanghai, Fujian, and Guangxi, and decreased in 15 provinces including Ningxia, Liaoning, Chongqing, Tianjin, Hebei, etc. Prices were higher in the North China region, at 25.27 RMB per kilogram; lower in the Northeast region, at 22.77 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of live pigs was 10.14 RMB per kilogram, up 0.2% week-on-week and down 31.7% year-on-year. Pig prices increased in 16 provinces including Hainan, Beijing, Guangdong, Anhui, Heilongjiang, and decreased in 13 provinces including Tianjin, Guizhou, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, etc., with stable prices in Shanghai. Prices were higher in the Southwest region, at 10.53 RMB per kilogram; lower in the Northeast region, at 9.55 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of pork was 19.94 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% week-on-week and down 22.1% year-on-year. Pork prices increased in 9 provinces including Jiangxi, Hainan, Tianjin, Guangxi, Jiangsu, and decreased in 20 provinces including Beijing, Hebei, Shaanxi, Guizhou, Qinghai, etc., with stable prices in Shanxi. Prices were higher in the South China region, at 22.89 RMB per kilogram; lower in the Northeast region, at 16.64 RMB per kilogram.

Poultry product prices. The national average price of eggs was 10.26 RMB per kilogram, up 2.7% week-on-week and up 13.1% year-on-year. The average price of eggs in Hebei, Liaoning and other 10 major producing provinces was 9.64 RMB per kilogram, up 3.7% week-on-week and up 25.7% year-on-year. The national average price of chicken was 22.20 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week and down 2.6% year-on-year. The average price of commercial egg chicks was 3.84 RMB per chick, up 1.1% week-on-week and down 6.1% year-on-year. The average price of commercial meat chicks was 3.48 RMB per chick, up 0.6% week-on-week and up 2.4% year-on-year.

Prices of beef and mutton products. The average price of beef nationwide was 73.34 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week and up 5.0% year-on-year. The price of beef in Hebei, Inner Mongolia and other 10 major producing provinces was 67.84 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week. The live cattle price in major producing provinces was 28.33 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week and up 5.6% year-on-year. The average price of mutton nationwide was 72.64 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week and up 4.6% year-on-year. The price of mutton in Hebei, Inner Mongolia and other 10 major producing provinces was 71.09 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week. The live sheep price in major producing provinces was 30.84 RMB per kilogram, up 0.1% week-on-week and up 5.7% year-on-year.

Fresh milk price. The average price of fresh milk in 10 major producing provinces, including Inner Mongolia and Hebei, was 3.03 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week, but down 1.0% year-on-year.

Feed prices. The national average price of corn is 2.50 RMB/kg, unchanged from the previous week, up 2.0% year-on-year. Corn prices in the main producing areas of Northeast China are 2.34 RMB/kg, unchanged from the previous week; corn prices in the main consuming areas of Guangdong Province are 2.54 RMB/kg, unchanged from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal is 3.26 RMB/kg, down 0.6% from the previous week, down 5.8% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs is 3.39 RMB/kg, unchanged from the previous week, down 0.6% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for broilers is 3.52 RMB/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week, down 0.3% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for layer chickens is 3.25 RMB/kg, unchanged from the previous week, unchanged year-on-year.
