From January to April, China's agricultural product import and export volume reached 102.54 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%. Among them, exports reached 34.41 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; imports reached 68.13 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 13.4%; the trade deficit reached 33.72 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 23.6%.
1. Grain
From January to April, grain imports totaled 11.516 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 47.3%, with a trade value of $3.34 billion, up 43.2%; exports totaled 6.64 million tons, up 57.2%, with a trade value of $370 million, up 17.4%; net imports totaled 10.852 million tons, up 46.7%.
2. Cotton, sugar
Cotton: From January to April, 7.29 million tons of cotton were imported, a year-on-year increase of 65.1%; the import value was $1.2 billion, up 56.5%. In addition, the import of cotton substitutes, cotton yarn, increased by 53.4% to 7.06 million tons.
Sugar: From January to April, 649,000 tons were imported, an increase of 1.3 times year-on-year; the import value was $270 million, up 82.0%.
3, Edible oilseeds, edible vegetable oils
Edible oilseeds: From January to April, imports increased by 5.3% year-on-year to 27.202 million tons, with a trade value of US$13.51 billion, up by 8.4%; exports increased by 51.3% year-on-year to 6.24 million tons, with a trade value of US$9.6 billion, up by 36.7%; the trade deficit increased by 6.7% year-on-year to US$12.51 billion.
Edible vegetable oil: from January to April, imports increased by 17.9% year-on-year to 2.358 million tons, with a trade value of US $2.72 billion, up by 22.1%; exports increased by 2.0 times to 375,000 tons, with a trade value of US $450 million, up by 1.8 times; the trade deficit increased by 9.9% to US $2.27 billion.
4, vegetables, fruits
Vegetables: From January to April, the export value was US $5.22 billion, a decrease of 7.5% year-on-year; the import value was US $340 million, a decrease of 37.4%; the trade surplus was US $4.88 billion, a decrease of 4.3%.
Fruit: from January to April, the export volume was US$3.05 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%; the import volume was US$6.49 billion, up 3.6%; and the trade deficit was US$3.44 billion, down 4.5%.
5, livestock products, aquatic products
Agricultural products: In the first four months, the import value was $149.0 billion, up by 9.0% year-on-year; the export value was $25.4 billion, up by 11.4%; and the trade deficit was $123.6 billion, up by 8.5%.
Aquatic products: from January to April, the export value was US $6.43 billion, down 2.3% year-on-year; the import value was US $9.65 billion, up 27.4%; the trade deficit was US $3.22 billion, up 2.2 times.
