During the 2025/26 crushing season, Guangxi processed a cumulative total of 60.9282 million tons of sugarcane—a year-on-year increase of 12.3328 million tons. Cumulative sugar production reached 7.6974 million tons, up 1.2324 million tons from the previous year (a growth rate of 19.06%), with a sugar recovery rate of 12.63%.
As China's largest white sugar production hub, Guangxi saw its cumulative sugar output rise by 19.06% year-on-year in the 2025/26 season. This significant increase has notably heightened supply-side pressure within the domestic sugar market, creating a bearish outlook for spot white sugar prices. In the futures market, on June 2, 2026, the benchmark 2609 contract for white sugar on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange closed at 5,433 RMB per ton—an increase of 4 RMB per ton from the previous trading day. While the current increase in supply has already been partially priced into the market, the prevailing expectation of an overall loose supply-demand balance continues to exert downward pressure on futures prices.
