Price trend
According to SunSirs' data, as of the 24th, the price of ethyl acetate stood at 6,066.67 RMB/ton. This represents a decrease of 183.33 RMB/ton—or 2.93%—compared to the price of 6,250 RMB/ton recorded on May 18. With supplies of ethyl acetate remaining ample, market trading activity was subdued; consequently, industry participants held a bearish outlook, driving ethyl acetate prices on a weak downward trajectory.
Market analysis
Upstream acetic acid prices were trending at low levels, providing weak cost support and offering only limited impetus to the ethyl acetate market. Downstream buyers of ethyl acetate showed low enthusiasm for entering the market, relying primarily on—and thus providing insufficient support through—demand-driven procurement. On the supply side, ethyl acetate production facilities were operating stably, and enterprise inventories remained elevated; however, given the limited purchasing activity downstream, manufacturers were continuously lowering their price benchmarks in an effort to boost sales volume.
Market outlook
Looking ahead, ethyl acetate supplies remain ample, and producers are clearly focused on moving inventory. Prices for the key feedstock, acetic acid, have stabilized, offering only limited cost support. Downstream buyers are adhering primarily to a "buy-on-demand" strategy; consequently, market trading activity is sluggish, and there is a distinct lack of bullish factors. The ethyl acetate market is therefore expected to continue its weak performance; future market trends will depend specifically on developments in feedstock pricing and the extent of downstream follow-through.
