According to data from SunSirs' "Spot Connect" service, the average market price for rapeseed meal stood at 2,458 RMB/ton on May 15, down 1.60% from the average price of 2,498 RMB/ton recorded on May 11.
Arrivals of imported rapeseed at ports continue to rise, resulting in a noticeably looser external supply environment. Domestic oil mills have seen a significant rebound in operating rates, leading to steadily increasing crushing volumes and a concentrated release of rapeseed meal output. Rapeseed meal inventories in coastal regions—previously at low levels—have begun to accumulate, shifting the market balance from a state of tight equilibrium toward a looser supply-demand landscape.
Overall, rapeseed meal is expected to maintain a volatile yet bearish trend in the short term, as pressure from the ample supply continues to weigh on prices. Market participants should closely monitor the actual execution of crushing plans by oil mills, as well as the progress of feed consumption within the aquaculture sector.
In the short term, rapeseed meal prices are likely to remain within a range-bound, volatile pattern. If the influx of imported supplies continues to rise while demand fails to show significant improvement, the price center of gravity may drift lower; conversely, if the peak season for demand kicks off with stronger-than-expected momentum, it could trigger a temporary rebound in prices.
