Market analysis
On May 14, the price of n-butanol—a key raw material for the plasticizer DBP—underwent weak consolidation, while the market for phthalic anhydride stabilized at a subdued level. Meanwhile, isooctanol prices declined, resulting in a reduction in the overall raw material costs for DBP production. PVC prices remained stable, and support from downstream demand persisted. Operating rates at DBP manufacturing facilities saw a slight decline, yet the overall supply of DBP remained steady. Factory inventories for DBP remained at low levels; however, downstream customers demonstrated only moderate enthusiasm for procurement. Transaction prices were determined through negotiation, with DBP prices ranging between 8,900 and 9,100 RMB/ton. While downward pressure on DBP prices remained present and upward momentum had weakened, the overall DBP market trended toward stability.
