According to the SunSirs Commodity Market Analysis System, domestic prices for sodium metabisulfite rose this week. The average price for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite stood at 3,996 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 4,010 RMB/ton by the end of the week, representing an increase of 0.33%.

Market analysis

This week, domestic market prices for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite (96.5% purity) rose. Upstream, the price of soda ash—a key raw material—declined by 1.32%, while the price of sulfur increased by 7.56%; the broad-based rise in upstream sulfur prices served as the primary driver behind the increase in sodium metabisulfite prices.

Market Outlook

Rising domestic raw material costs for sodium metabisulfite continue to lend support to prices. Consequently, domestic market prices are expected to exhibit a predominantly volatile yet firm trend in the short term.
