Price Trends
According to data from SunSirs' data, hydrogen peroxide prices plummeted during the first ten days of May; however, driven by improving demand, the market subsequently began to warm up steadily. At the beginning of the month, the average market price for hydrogen peroxide stood at 1,223 RMB/ton; by May 12, this average price had fallen to 916 RMB/ton—a decline of 25%.
Factors Contributing to the Decline in Hydrogen Peroxide Market Prices
Supply Side: Following the May Day holiday, operating rates at hydrogen peroxide manufacturers have rebounded, with the national operating rate approaching 80%. Previously scheduled maintenance outages have largely concluded; meanwhile, increased external sales from downstream supporting facilities (such as propylene oxide and caprolactam plants) have led to a gradual easing of overall supply, resulting in heightened supply-side pressure in the southern region.
Demand Side: The peak season for downstream sectors is gradually drawing to a close. End-users demonstrate limited tolerance for high hydrogen peroxide prices, and with profit margins under pressure, some manufacturers have scaled back production and are purchasing strictly on an as-needed basis, resulting in a decline in overall procurement volumes. New energy manufacturers are adopting a wait-and-see stance at current high price levels, leading to a reduction in orders. As demand weakens—and with market participants inclined to "buy on the rise, sell on the fall"—market trading activity remains sluggish.
Cost Side: Raw material prices have softened, and cost support has weakened. With liquid chlorine and hydrogen prices trending downward, production costs have declined, leading producers to show an increased willingness to offer price concessions.
Market Outlook:
In summary: During late May, the domestic hydrogen peroxide market witnessed a tug-of-war between bullish and bearish fundamentals; supply pressure persisted, while downstream demand remained lackluster. Following a period of low market activity in early May, prices in late May experienced broad fluctuations, with an increased probability of upward movement; prices are projected to range between 750 and 900 RMB/ton.
