China pork, beef and mutton, egg prices rise, vegetable and fruit prices fall in the 18th week of 2026

The wholesale price situation of fresh agricultural products

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the "Agricultural Products Wholesale Price Index 200" for the 18th week of 2026 (April 27 - May 3, 2026, hereinafter referred to) was 116.22 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.22 points from the previous week and 0.73 points lower than the same period last year; the "Wholesale Price Index of 'Vegetable Basket' Products" was 116.84 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.26 points from the previous week and 0.82 points lower than the same period last year.

1.Pork, beef and mutton prices rise, and egg prices are up. The average wholesale price of pork per kilogram was 15.05 RMB, up 1.5 percent month-on-month and down 27.0 percent year-on-year; the average wholesale price of beef per kilogram was 66.46 RMB, up 0.2 percent month-on-month and up 5.9 percent year-on-year; the average wholesale price of mutton per kilogram was 64.51 RMB, up 0.2 percent month-on-month and up 9.2 percent year-on-year; the average wholesale price of white-leg chicken per kilogram was 17.06 RMB, down 0.6 percent month-on-month and flat year-on-year. The average wholesale price of eggs per kilogram was 8.55 RMB, up 1.3 percent month-on-month and up 6.2 percent year-on-year.

2. Vegetable average prices fell slightly. The average wholesale price of 28 key vegetables was 4.31 RMB per kilogram, a decrease of 0.9% week-on-week and 2.3% lower than the same period last year. Looking at the varieties, the prices of 19 vegetables fell, 1 remained unchanged, and 8 increased. Among them, the price of cucumber fell by 5.1% week-on-week, and the prices of other varieties fell by less than 5%; the price of potato remained unchanged week-on-week; the prices of celery and white radish increased by 8.1% and 5.4% week-on-week respectively, and the prices of other varieties increased by less than 5%.

3. Water product prices fluctuated. The wholesale market average prices per kilogram were 44.49 RMB for hairtail, 10.17 RMB for white carp, 41.73 RMB for large hairtail, and 20.08 RMB for carp, down 2.1%, 1.5%, 0.6%, and 0.1% week-on-week, respectively. The wholesale market average prices per kilogram were 14.91 RMB for carp, 18.64 RMB for grass carp, and 18.86 RMB for white carp, up 1.4%, 1.1%, and 0.3% week-on-week, respectively.

4. The average wholesale price of key fruits saw a slight decline. The average wholesale price of the six key fruits monitored was 7.64 RMB per kilogram, a decrease of 0.3% week-on-week and 0.7% lower than the same period last year. Looking at the individual varieties, the average wholesale price of watermelons and pineapples decreased by 5.5% and 1.6% week-on-week, respectively. The average wholesale price of bananas was basically flat week-on-week. The average wholesale price of Fuji apples, pear and table grapes increased by 1.7%, 1.6% and 0.1% week-on-week, respectively.
