According to monitoring by the SunSirs Commodity Market Analysis System, the price of activated charcoal stood at 12,933 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 12,866 RMB/ton at the end of the week, representing a price decline of 0.52%.

Market analysis

Domestic manufacturer prices for coconut shell activated charcoal rose this week. In East China, the ex-factory price for water-purification-grade coconut shell activated charcoal ranged from 9,500 to 13,000 RMB/ton. For columnar coal-based activated charcoal—specifically grades with an iodine value of approximately 1,000—prices stood between 8,200 and 9,500 RMB/ton. While supplies of coconut shells from Southeast Asia remain tight, the impact of new maritime regulations (regarding hazardous cargo declarations) has begun to subside; consequently, prices for imported carbonized raw materials have retreated from their recent highs, thereby alleviating cost pressures.

Shipments of coconut shells from Southeast Asia remain stable, while prices for carbonized materials are soft, leading to a decline in overall costs. Regarding supply and demand, manufacturers are operating normally; however, firm demand from the water treatment and waste gas sectors remains moderate, and there is little inclination to stockpile inventory. In terms of logistics, sea freight costs for hazardous materials remain stable, with no additional surcharges.

Market Outlook:

Domestic trading volume for coconut shell activated charcoal has fallen short of expectations; coupled with a retreat in raw material prices from recent highs, activated charcoal prices are projected to exhibit a predominantly volatile trend in the short term.
