According to the latest data, U.S. tire imports totaled 67.83 million units in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 4% year-on-year decline. Specifically, imports of passenger car tires fell 3.2% year-on-year to 40.55 million units; truck and bus tire imports dropped 9% to 14.09 million units; aircraft tire imports rose 14% to 73,000 units; motorcycle tire imports declined 11% to 823,000 units; and bicycle tire imports increased 20% to 1.86 million units.
From January to March, the volume of U.S. tire imports from China totaled 4.64 million units, a 33% year-on-year decrease. Within this total, passenger car tire imports fell 16% to 255,000 units, while truck and bus tire imports dropped 48% to 222,000 units.
During the same January-to-March period, the volume of U.S. tire imports from Thailand totaled 16.59 million units, down 9% year-on-year. Of this total, passenger car tire imports amounted to 9.45 million units—a 15% decline—and truck and bus tire imports totaled 3.19 million units—a 24% decline.
