Domestic pork and egg prices rise in the 17th week of 2026; beef and mutton, vegetable prices fall; international prices of a variety of bulk agricultural products rise.
1. Domestic wholesale prices of fresh agricultural products
According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the "Agricultural Products Wholesale Price Index 200" for the 17th week of 2026 (April 20-26, 2026, hereinafter referred to) was 116.44 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.43 points from the previous week and 2.01 points lower than the same period last year; the " Index of Wholesale Prices of 'Basket of Goods' Products" was 117.09 (with 2015 as 100), down 0.50 points from the previous week and 2.31 points lower than the same period last year.
1. Pork and egg prices rise, while beef and mutton prices decline slightly. The wholesale market average price of pork per kilogram is 14.83 RMB, up 2.2% week-on-week and down 28.7% year-on-year; the wholesale market average price of beef per kilogram is 66.31 RMB, down 0.5% week-on-week and up 6.3% year-on-year; the wholesale market average price of mutton per kilogram is 64.39 RMB, down 0.3% week-on-week and up 8.4% year-on-year; the wholesale market average price of white chicken per kilogram is 17.17 RMB, unchanged week-on-week and down 0.1% year-on-year. The wholesale market average price of eggs per kilogram is 8.44 RMB, up 4.2% week-on-week and up 1.8% year-on-year.
2. The average price of vegetables fell slightly. The average price of 28 key vegetables was 4.35 RMB per kilogram, a decrease of 1.1% compared to the previous week and 4.8% lower than the same period last year. By variety, the prices of 18 vegetables fell, 1 remained unchanged, and 9 increased. Among them, the prices of cauliflower and green peppers fell significantly, decreasing by 7.7% and 7.2% respectively compared to the previous week; the prices of other varieties fell by less than 7%. The price of carrots remained unchanged compared to the previous week. The prices of white radish and lettuce increased by 8.8% and 5.1% respectively compared to the previous week, and the prices of other varieties increased by less than 5%.
3. A variety of aquatic product prices have increased slightly. The wholesale market average prices per kilogram for large hairtail, common carp, white carp, grass carp, and carp were 41.97 RMB, 20.11 RMB, 10.33 RMB, 18.80 RMB, 18.43 RMB, and 14.70 RMB, respectively, an increase of 2.1%, 1.9%, 1.7%, 1.3%, 1.0%, and 0.9% week-on-week. The wholesale market average price per kilogram for large yellow croaker was 45.44 RMB, a decrease of 0.2% week-on-week.
4. The average price of fruits has increased slightly. The average price of 6 key fruits monitored per week was 7.66 RMB per kilogram, a 0.3% increase compared to the previous week and a 0.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Looking at the varieties, the average price of pear, pineapple, and wine grape increased by 2.2%, 1.6%, and 1.3% respectively compared to the previous week. The prices of watermelon, banana, and Fuji apple decreased by 2.2%, 1.5%, and 0.8% respectively compared to the previous week.
2. The situation of international bulk agricultural product prices
1. A variety of bulk agricultural products have seen price increases. The closing weekly average prices for the recent futures contracts of wheat, corn, soybeans, and soybean oil on the Chicago Board of Trade in the United States were $222 per ton, $182 per ton, $434 per ton, and $1574 per ton, respectively. These prices increased by 2.1%, 2.3%, 1.6%, and 5.6% compared to the previous week and were 13.5%, 4.8%, 11.9%, and 47.4% higher compared to the same period last year. The International Cotton Price Index (SM grade) was 90.27 cents per pound (or $1990 per ton), which increased by 3.8% compared to the previous week and was 15.8% higher compared to the same period last year. The arrival weekly average price of palm oil in the Port of Rotterdam, Malaysia, was $1560 per ton, which increased by 0.5% compared to the previous week and was 16.1% higher compared to the same period last year.
2. Rice and sugar prices fell slightly. The weekly average FOB price of 100% B grade and 5% broken rice from Thailand was $419 and $413 per ton, respectively, down 2.2% and 2.4% on a month-on-month basis, and 0.6% lower and 1.3% higher year-on-year. The weekly average original sugar price from the International Sugar Organization was 13.76 cents per pound (or $303 per ton), down 1.3% on a month-on-month basis, and 23.2% lower year-on-year.
