The author learned from the Liaoning Provincial Department of Natural Resources recently that the iron mine exploration project in Huahonggou, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, officially started construction recently, and the drilling work of the project has been fully launched. The total investment of the project is 11 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 15 million tons to 20 million tons of iron ore.

The Huahonggou iron mine block has an area of 12.38 square kilometers and is endowed with superior resources. In October 2025, Wumao Mining Holdings Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Wumao, successfully won the prospecting rights of the mine area for 2.355 billion yuan.

The Huahonggou Iron Mine Prospecting Project, as a key project for the construction of a national iron mine base in Liaoning Province and the security of national strategic mineral resources, has been highly valued by Liaoning Province and Benxi City. A special working group has been established to fully promote various tasks, efficiently completing the land acquisition and demolition of the first phase, and at the same time, by compressing the approval time and optimizing the processing procedures, the project obtained the prospecting permit and the certificate of immovable property rights in February 2026, and the project was completed in March, ensuring the timely start of the project.

The Huahonggou iron mine exploration project has entered the construction stage, which not only injects strong impetus into the regional industrial upgrading and high-quality economic development, but also lays a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of a modern, green, and intelligent mine.
