According to the SunSirs Commodity Price Analysis System, domestic prices for sodium metabisulfite rose this week. The average price for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite stood at 3,916 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 3,950 RMB/ton at the end of the week, representing a price increase of 0.85%.

Market analysis

This week, domestic market prices for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite (96.5% purity) rose. This upward trend was driven by continuously rising prices for upstream raw materials, compounded by factors on the supply side—such as environmental protection controls and production cuts due to facility maintenance—which increased production costs and tightened market supply.

Market outlook

Rising domestic raw material costs for sodium metabisulfite continue to underpin prices; in the short term, domestic market prices are expected to exhibit a predominantly volatile yet firm trend.
