China pork, vegetable and fruit prices fell in the 15th week of 2026; beef and mutton prices rose slightly; prices of a variety of major agricultural commodities fell internationally.                    

I. China wholesale prices of fresh agricultural products

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the "Agricultural Products Wholesale Price Index 200" for the 15th week of 2026 (April 6-12, 2026, hereinafter referred to) was 117.60 (with 2015 as 100), a decrease of 1.46 points from the previous week and 2.15 points lower than the same period last year; the "Wholesale Price Index of 'Vegetable Basket' Products" was 118.46 (with 2015 as 100), a decrease of 1.70 points from the previous week and 2.46 points lower than the same period last year.

1. Pork prices continued to decline, while beef and mutton prices increased slightly. The weekly average wholesale price of pork was 14.94 RMB per kilogram, down 2.4% month-on-month and 27.8% year-on-year; the weekly average wholesale price of beef was 66.62 RMB per kilogram, up 0.6% month-on-month and 8.8% year-on-year; the weekly average wholesale price of mutton was 64.48 RMB per kilogram, up 0.2% month-on-month and 9.5% year-on-year; the weekly average wholesale price of white chicken was 17.09 RMB per kilogram, down 1.1% month-on-month and 2.0% year-on-year. The weekly average wholesale price of eggs was 7.70 RMB per kilogram, unchanged month-on-month and 3.0% year-on-year.

2. The average price of vegetables continues to decline. The average price of 28 key vegetables monitored was 4.49 RMB per kilogram, a decrease of 3.0% compared to the previous week and 7.2% lower than the same period last year. Looking at the varieties, the prices of 22 vegetables fell, 1 remained unchanged, and 5 increased. Among them, the prices of garlic shoots and Chinese cabbage fell significantly, decreasing by 11.1% and 10.9% respectively compared to the previous week, while the prices of other varieties fell by less than 10%. The price of romaine lettuce remained basically unchanged compared to the previous week. The prices of shiitake mushrooms, green peppers, white radish, spinach, and ginger increased by 7.3%, 3.0%, 2.5%, 0.5%, and 0.1% respectively compared to the previous week.

3. Water product prices fluctuated. The average wholesale prices per kilogram were 18.11 yuan for grass carp, 45.20 yuan for hairtail, 18.32 yuan for silver carp, and 14.54 yuan for carp, respectively, an increase of 1.9%, 0.9%, 0.3%, and 0.2% week-on-week. The average wholesale prices per kilogram were 10.00 yuan for white carp, 40.90 yuan for bigeye flounder, and 19.69 yuan for crucian carp, respectively, a decrease of 1.5%, 1.0%, and 0.1% week-on-week.

4. The average price of fruits fell slightly. The average price of 6 key fruits monitored was 7.64 RMB per kilogram, a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous week and an increase of 1.5% compared to the same period last year. Looking at the varieties, the average price of watermelon, banana, pear, apple, pineapple and table grape decreased by 3.0%, 1.8%, 0.9%, 0.4%, 0.3% and 0.3% respectively compared to the previous week.

II. The situation of international bulk agricultural product prices

1. A variety of bulk agricultural product prices fell on a month-to-month basis. The average price of raw sugar from the International Sugar Organization was 14.69 cents per pound (US$324 per tonne), down 6.2% month-on-month and 19.7% lower year-on-year. The recent futures contract closing average prices for wheat, corn, soybeans and soybean oil on the Chicago Board of Trade were US$214 per tonne, US$176 per tonne, US$428 per tonne and US$1,507 per tonne, respectively, down 3.2%, 1.7%, 0.1% and 0.2% month-on-month, and up 7.6%, down 6.1%, up 15.2% and up 48.7% year-on-year.

2. Cotton, rice and palm oil prices increased slightly on a month-on-month basis. The international cotton price index (SM grade) was at 84.05 cents per pound (US$1,853 per tonne), up by 2.3% month-on-month and 9.8% year-on-year. The Thai 100%B grade and 5% broken rice FOB Bangkok weekly average prices were at US$391 and US$384 per tonne respectively, up by 0.4% and 1.3% month-on-month respectively, but down by 6.5% and 5.0% year-on-year respectively. The Malaysian palm oil FOB Rotterdam weekly average price was at US$1,565 per tonne, up by 0.6% month-on-month and 13.7% year-on-year.
