SunSirs: China’s 500 County-Level Markets: Livestock & Feed Price Trends (March 26, 2026)

According to the monitoring of 500 county-level markets and collection points across the country, the prices of eggs, live cattle, corn, soybean meal, and fattening pig compound feed increased month-on-month in the fourth week of March (as of March 26), while the prices of pig products, chicken meat, meat sheep, and fresh milk decreased month-on-month. The prices of commercial broiler chicks, beef, broiler chicken compound feed, and layer chicken compound feed remained unchanged month-on-month.

Pig product prices. The national average price of piglets was 25.42 RMB per kilogram, down 3.0% week-on-week and down 33.3% year-on-year. Piglet prices increased in Tianjin and Inner Mongolia, and decreased in 26 provinces including Fujian, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi, etc., with Qinghai prices unchanged. The price in the North China region was higher, at 26.17 RMB per kilogram; the price in the East China region was lower, at 24.71 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of live pigs was 10.68 RMB per kilogram, down 3.3% week-on-week and down 29.8% year-on-year. Live pig prices decreased in all 30 monitoring provinces across the country. The price in the Southwest region was higher, at 11.79 RMB per kilogram; the price in the Northeast region was lower, at 10.06 RMB per kilogram. The national average price of pork was 21.52 RMB per kilogram, down 2.2% week-on-week and down 17.8% year-on-year. Pork prices decreased in all 30 monitoring provinces across the country. The price in the South China region was higher, at 24.45 RMB per kilogram; the price in the Northeast region was lower, at 18.23 RMB per kilogram.

Poultry product prices. The national average price of eggs was 8.73 RMB per kilogram, up 0.3% week-on-week and down 7.5% year-on-year. The average egg price in Hebei, Liaoning and other 10 major producing provinces was 7.41 RMB per kilogram, up 1.1% week-on-week and down 6.7% year-on-year. The national average price of chicken was 22.28 RMB per kilogram, down 0.5% week-on-week and down 3.1% year-on-year. The average price of commercial day-old chicks was 3.69 RMB per chick, the same as the previous week and down 11.3% year-on-year. The average price of commercial meat chicks was 3.40 RMB per chick, the same as the previous week and down 2.0% year-on-year.

Prices of beef and mutton products. The average price of beef nationwide was 72.00 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week, up 8.5% year-on-year. The price of beef in Hebei, Inner Mongolia and other 10 major producing provinces was 66.13 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week. The price of live cattle in major producing provinces was 27.17 RMB per kilogram, up 0.3% from the previous week and up 8.4% year-on-year. The average price of mutton nationwide was 72.66 RMB per kilogram, down 0.3% from the previous week and up 4.8% year-on-year. The price of mutton in Hebei, Inner Mongolia and other 10 major producing provinces was 70.54 RMB per kilogram, down 0.2% from the previous week. The price of live sheep in major producing provinces was 30.48 RMB per kilogram, down 0.4% from the previous week and up 5.0% year-on-year.

Fresh milk price. The average price of fresh milk in Inner Mongolia, Hebei and other 10 major producing provinces is 3.02 RMB per kilogram, down 0.3 percent week-on-week and down 1.9 percent year-on-year.

Feed prices. The national average price of corn is 2.50 RMB per kilogram, up 0.4% week-on-week and up 5.9% year-on-year. The corn price in the main producing areas of Northeast China is 2.33 RMB per kilogram, up 0.4% week-on-week; the corn price in the main consuming area of Guangdong Province is 2.56 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal is 3.46 RMB per kilogram, up 0.6% week-on-week and down 3.9% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs is 3.41 RMB per kilogram, up 0.3% week-on-week and unchanged year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for broilers is 3.53 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week and unchanged year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for layer chickens is 3.26 RMB per kilogram, unchanged from the previous week and up 0.6% year-on-year.
