1. [Automotive] According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), preliminary statistics for March 1–31 indicate that retail sales in the national new energy passenger vehicle market totaled 784,000 units. This represents a 21% year-on-year decline compared to March of last year, but a 69% increase compared to the previous month. Year-to-date cumulative retail sales stand at 1.844 million units, down 24% year-on-year.
2. [US Non-Farm Payrolls] In March, US non-farm payrolls increased by 178,000. This figure exceeded the market consensus estimate of a 65,000 increase and marked a significant turnaround from the previous month's figure, which saw a decline of 92,000.
Plastics and Rubber
1. [PE] According to reports, regarding the operational status of Ningxia Baofeng's PE facility: the 300,000-ton full-density unit was shut down on April 1, 2026, and is expected to resume operations on April 5.
2. [PP] Shandong Jingbo's two PP production lines, with a combined annual capacity of 600,000 tons, are currently fully shut down for maintenance. Line 1 entered maintenance on April 3, while Line 2 began maintenance earlier on March 30; both are expected to resume operations by the end of April.
3. [BR] Yangzi Petrochemical's 100,000-ton/year BR (butadiene rubber) facility has a planned output of 3,600 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
Sichuan Petrochemical's 150,000-ton/year high-cis BR facility has a planned output of approximately 9,000 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
Maoming Petrochemical's 100,000-ton/year high-cis BR facility is operating on both lines, with a planned output of 4,500 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
Qilu Petrochemical's 80,000-ton/year high-cis BR facility has a planned output of approximately 2,500 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
Yanshan Petrochemical's 120,000-ton/year high-cis BR facility is operating normally, with a planned output of 3,600 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
Daqing Petrochemical's 160,000-ton/year high-cis BR facility has a planned output of approximately 12,400 tons of high-cis BR for April 2026.
4. [Tires] The latest data indicates that in the first two months of 2026, U.S. tire imports totaled 43.61 million units, representing a year-on-year decrease of 2%.
