According to SunSirs' Commodity Market Analysis System, domestic prices for sodium metabisulfite rose last week. The average price for industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite stood at 2,486 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 2,583 RMB/ton by the end of the week—an increase of 3.89%.

Market analysis

Last week, market prices for domestic industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite (96.5% purity) rose. While upstream soda ash prices remained stable, sulfur prices increased by 4.33%, and downstream caprolactam prices rose by 1.61%. The sustained upward trend in the upstream raw materials—soda ash and sulfur—drove the increase in sodium metabisulfite prices.

Market outlook

Rising domestic raw material costs for sodium metabisulfite continue to underpin prices; in the short term, domestic market prices are expected to exhibit a predominantly volatile yet up trend.
