The price of isobutyraldehyde rose sharply in March

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, as of March 9th, the domestic price of isobutyraldehyde was 7,533.33 RMB/ton, a significant increase of 17.10% compared to the price of 6,433.33 RMB/ton on March 1st. In March, the operating rate of isobutyraldehyde enterprises slightly increased, remaining stable at around 87%. Downstream neopentyl glycol prices rose sharply, increasing demand for isobutyraldehyde. The price of raw material propylene also surged, leading to increased costs and supporting demand, resulting in a significant price increase for isobutyraldehyde in March.

Isobutyraldehyde manufacturers saw slight increase in operating rates

In March, Yankuang Lunan Chemical's 30,000-ton/year isobutyraldehyde plant operated at low capacity; Anqing Shuguang's isobutyraldehyde plant, with a designed capacity of 25,000 tons/year, partially switched to other production; Shandong Lihuayi's 25,000-ton/year isobutyraldehyde plant switched to other production; Jiangsu Huachang's 30,000-ton/year isobutyraldehyde plant operated normally, and its new plant was also operating normally, with products mainly for internal use; Dongming Dongfang Chemical's 15,000-ton/year octanol plant operated normally. Overall, isobutyraldehyde plant operating rates increased slightly, remaining stable at around 87% in March. Ample isobutyraldehyde production continued to support price increases.

The price of raw material propylene rose sharply

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, as of March 9th, the price of propylene was 9,701 RMB/ton, a significant increase of 17.10% compared to 6,411 RMB/ton on March 1st. Propylene plant operations remained stable, downstream propylene operating rates increased slightly, and propylene acceptance of higher prices improved, leading to the substantial price increase. Cost support was also significant, particularly from rising isobutyraldehyde costs.

Demand for Isobutyraldehyde Increased

The price of neopentyl glycol surged in March. On March 9th, Yantai Wanhua quoted 9,350-9,500 RMB/ton, a significant increase from 7,850-8,000 RMB/ton on March 1st. The rise in neopentyl glycol prices had boosted demand for isobutyraldehyde, providing stronger support for its price increase.

According to analysts at SunSirs, the price of isobutyraldehyde had surged due to the Middle East geopolitical crisis, leading to increased costs and higher propylene prices. On the supply and demand side, isobutyraldehyde production remained stable, resulting in ample supply. On the demand side, rising neopentyl glycol prices had boostedisobutyraldehyde demand, further supporting price increases.
