According to the monitoring of 500 county-level farmers' markets and collection points across China, in the 5th week of January (with the collection date being January 29), the prices of pig products, eggs, chicken, commercial generation chicks, beef cattle, mutton sheep, corn, and soybean meal increased month-on-month, while the prices of fresh milk and compound feed remained unchanged month-on-month.
Prices of live pig products. The national average price of piglets was 26.87 CNY per kilogram, up 3.5% from the previous week and down 23.2% year on year. Piglet prices rose in 28 provinces including Tianjin, Ningxia, Hunan, Shanghai and Hebei, while falling in Inner Mongolia. The price in South China was relatively high, at 29.76 CNY per kilogram; the price in North China was relatively low, at 25.43 CNY per kilogram. The national average price of live pigs was 13.43 CNY per kilogram, up 0.3% from the previous week and down 19.5% year on year. Live pig prices rose in 17 provinces including Tianjin, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning and Ningxia, while falling in 13 provinces including Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Chongqing. The price in Southwest China was relatively high, at 13.94 CNY per kilogram; the price in Northeast China was relatively low, at 12.90 CNY per kilogram. The national average price of pork was 23.80 CNY per kilogram, up 1.0% from the previous week and down 15.9% year on year. Pork prices rose in 27 provinces including Ningxia, Shanxi, Tianjin, Jilin and Hunan, while falling in Guangxi, Hainan and Qinghai. The price in South China was relatively high, at 26.49 CNY per kilogram; the price in Northeast China was relatively low, at 20.23 CNY per kilogram.
Prices of poultry products. The national average price of eggs was 9.29 CNY per kilogram, up 2.9% from the previous week and down 15.5% year on year. The price of eggs in 10 major producing provinces including Hebei and Liaoning was 8.34 CNY per kilogram, up 4.9% from the previous week and down 15.7% year on year. The national average price of chicken was 22.59 CNY per kilogram, up 0.5% from the previous week and down 5.6% year on year. The average price of commercial layer chicks was 3.58 CNY per bird, up 0.8% from the previous week and down 12.7% year on year. The average price of commercial broiler chicks was 3.30 CNY per bird, up 0.3% from the previous week and down 4.1% year on year.
Prices of cattle and sheep products. The national average price of beef was 71.99 CNY per kilogram, up 0.3% from the previous week and 9.4% year-on-year. The price of beef in 10 major producing provinces including Hebei and Inner Mongolia was 65.81 CNY per kilogram, up 0.2% from the previous week. The price of live cattle in major producing provinces was 26.82 CNY per kilogram, up 0.4% from the previous week and 20.5% year-on-year. The national average price of mutton was 72.78 CNY per kilogram, up 0.5% from the previous week and 2.9% year-on-year. The price of mutton in 10 major producing provinces including Hebei and Inner Mongolia was 70.58 CNY per kilogram, up 0.5% from the previous week. The price of live sheep in major producing provinces was 30.78 CNY per kilogram, up 0.6% from the previous week and 5.9% year-on-year.
Raw milk price. The average price of raw milk in 10 major producing provinces including Inner Mongolia and Hebei was 3.04 CNY per kilogram, the same as the previous week, down 2.9% year-on-year.
Feed prices. The national average price of corn was 2.45 CNY per kilogram, up 0.4% from the previous week and 7.9% year-on-year. The price of corn in the three northeastern provinces, the main producing areas, was 2.28 CNY per kilogram, the same as the previous week; the price of corn in Guangdong Province, a major consuming area, was 2.52 CNY per kilogram, up 0.4% from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal was 3.34 CNY per kilogram, up 0.3% from the previous week and 0.6% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs was 3.37 CNY per kilogram, the same as the previous week and up 0.9% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for broilers was 3.51 CNY per kilogram, the same as the previous week and up 1.4% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for laying hens was 3.23 CNY per kilogram, the same as the previous week and up 1.9% year-on-year.
