Sporadic purchases continued in Xinjiang and inland regions. Due to the sustained rise in domestic lint cotton prices, seed cotton purchase prices also rebounded accordingly. According to the China Cotton Association survey, the average seed cotton purchase price at 400-type processing enterprises nationwide in January was 5.99 RMB/kg, up 3.3% year-on-year and 5.5% month-on-month. By the end of January, the cumulative notarized inspection volume reached 7.262 million tons nationwide, with Xinjiang accounting for 98.7%. Among these, 227 processing enterprises produced 633,000 tons of high-quality lint cotton, earning the “Sustainable Cotton” trademark usage certificate. I. Purchase Prices Rebound Amid Volatility In January, reduced buyer participation amplified intraday fluctuations in seed cotton prices. By month-end, most Xinjiang enterprises had completed processing, while inland regions saw sporadic transactions with prices trending downward due to significant quality disparities. Xinjiang prices mostly ranged between 5.5-6.5 RMB/kg, while inland prices fluctuated between 5.3-6.3 RMB/kg. According to the China Cotton Association survey, the national average seed cotton purchase price for processing enterprises in January was 5.99 RMB/kg, up 3.3% year-on-year and 5.5% month-on-month. Specifically: - Xinjiang: 5.99 RMB/kg (up 3.7% YoY, 5.9% MoM) - Mainland: 6.06 RMB/kg (down 4.6% YoY, 1.2% MoM) II. Nationwide Cotton Notarized Inspection Volume: 6.37 Million Tons As of January 31, 1,099 cotton processing enterprises nationwide conducted notarized inspections, covering 7.262 million tons of cotton. This included 1,018 processing enterprises in Xinjiang inspecting 7.166 million tons, and 81 enterprises in the mainland inspecting 95,000 tons.
Based on the operational realities of Xinjiang cotton's “specialized warehouse supervision + in-warehouse notarial inspection” system, relevant authorities have decided to suspend appointment scheduling and in-warehouse notarial inspection for certain Xinjiang cotton specialized supervision warehouses starting January 30, 2026. Effective February 7, all appointment scheduling and in-warehouse notarial inspection for Xinjiang cotton specialized supervision warehouses will cease. Specific timing and methods for reopening appointments after the Spring Festival holiday will be announced separately. III. Xinjiang Premium Cotton “Sustainable Cotton” Scale Exceeds 500,000 Metric Tons In 2025, the China Cotton Association's implementation of the Xinjiang Premium Cotton “Sustainable Cotton” trademark continued to advance steadily.
As of January 31, 227 processing enterprises in Xinjiang have been approved to use the trademark, accumulating 14,000 certificates. This corresponds to a total of 632,000 tons of lint cotton, with an average fiber length of 30.1mm, a breaking strength of 31cN/tex, a micronaire value of B2 grade, a fiber length uniformity index of 83.5%, a moisture regain of 6.2%, and an impurity rate of 2.4%.
