SunSirs: Soda Ash Market Conditions in Some Regions of China on February 5th

On February 5th, the benchmark price of light soda ash, according to SunSirs, was 1,198.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.83% compared to the beginning of the month (1208.00 RMB/ton).

On February 5th, the benchmark price of heavy soda ash, according to SunSirs, was 1,201.43 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.12% compared to the beginning of the month (1,202.86 RMB/ton).

On February 5th, the soda ash prices in North China were quoted as follows: light soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,200-1,270 RMB/ton; heavy soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,220-1,300 RMB/ton. The soda ash market had high inventory levels, downstream demand was limited, and transactions in the market were mainly driven by essential needs. In the short term, the soda ash market in North China is expected to remain stable.

On February 5th, the soda ash prices in East China were quoted as follows: light soda ash mainstream market price was around 1120-1560 RMB/ton, a decrease of 20-40 RMB/ton compared to January 4th; heavy soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,170-1,300 RMB/ton, a decrease of 30 RMB/ton compared to January 4th. Some soda ash production facilities were undergoing maintenance, resulting in a slight decrease in operating rates. Downstream demand was limited, and market transactions were mainly driven by essential needs. Industry participants were following market trends, and the East China soda ash market is expected to remain in a wait-and-see mode in the short term. 

On February 5th, the soda ash prices in Central China were quoted as follows: light soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,100-1,200 RMB/ton; heavy soda ash mainstream market price was around 1,150-1,300 RMB/ton. Downstream demand for soda ash remained stable, and market trading activity was relatively weak. Factory quotations remained stable, and some production facilities underwent maintenance, resulting in a decrease in inventory. In the short term, the soda ash market in Central China is expected to remain in a wait-and-see mode.
